Well, before I show you the facts behind what makes carp feed, as well as Dave Lane and Bryan Jarrett's other powerful angling secrets, let me explain why you'll absolutely love the Fresh Fishing DVD set...

Reason #1: No sponsors and no sales pitches.

If you've been into carp fishing for a while, you'll know every "big name" has a sponsor - or even their own company - and most of the DVD's around are just a good excuse to flog you their stuff.

Not this one. We flat-out banned Dave Lane, Bryan Jarrett, Simon Scott and anyone else involved from plugging anything. Not even a single boilie.

Why? To give you the truth about carp behaviour. Not cloud your judgement with latest gear or bait.

Reason #2: Leading fish experts explain complex carp science in plain English

If you've ever been on an angling forum, or spoken to other fishermen at the lake, you would've heard rumours about what carp like and what they don't -- but how do you know for sure?

How do you tell if these tips really work or if they're just "old wives tales"? Until now, you couldn't. It was hit and miss, and everyone was confusing everyone else.

So we called three leading fish scientists and grilled them on carp behaviour, feeding and how they sense smells and tastes - and what colours they can see.

In the hot seat were:

Dr Phil Hickley, an Environment Agency Scientist who specialises in recreational fisheries.
Dr Julian Partridge head of vision ecology at Bristol University who explains what carp see.
Simon Scott, fisheries lecturer at Sparsholt college, explains what environmental factors make carp want to eat - and what they can hear.

Now I know what you're probably thinking: "Science is hard, complicated and boring!"

...and I wouldn't blame you. And that's why we made the scientists stick to one rule:

Explain it in English!

(If you've ever met a scientist, you'll know they have a bad habit of rambling on in geek jargon and confusing anyone who isn't a professor of quantum mechanics.)

So just like the fishermen weren't allowed to flog their stuff, the scientists were forced to explain everything they knew in plain English that's easy to understand.

Reason #3: We do weird experiments so you don't have to!

Ever wondered what your bait looks like at depth?

What colour bait do carp prefer?

Or what flavour bait really excites them?

We decided to do some tests to get you answers to these questions and more.

So out came the tanks, underwater cameras, underwater microphones and even SCUBA diving gear to blow open more common angling myths, and set the record straight.

The tips you'll discover will give you a huge advantage over the carp, but...

If those three reasons don't already have you hooked, check out all the other great tips to be found on the DVD box set:

The four main factors that Dave Lane constantly thinks about when he’s fishing - and how you can easily use these to catch more carp.
Exactly how Dave Lane "stalks" the carp. He reveals what he does, why he does it and why it works.
Brian Jarrett explains how carp get used to strong flavours of bait - and how you can avoid this common headache.
How to make and use slowly sinking boilies. This is a brilliant technique for when fish are suspicious of feeding from the bottom.
How to fish in weeds and find a clear hole to fish in - and avoid snags. Dave’s tips will save you hours of wasted time… you’ll learn how to find and mark a spot other anglers would call “impossible”.
Dave Lane explains his famous "tree techniques", and shows you how to mark a clear spot from the tree to cast out to later. (This is one of the secrets to Dave’s success.)
Brian Jarrett reveals his personal recipe for "sloppy spodding".
How carps’ eyes work and what they see underwater. (Hint: your bait looks totally different two feet under the lake)
The strange way carp “hear” with their bodies: They show why most anglers bait alarms spook the fish - and how you can tune yours to prevent this.
The experiment with pop-up boilies that surprised everyone - even the experienced anglers. (Hint: You’re wasting your time if you recast with them)
How carp smell and taste bait… They tested 8 of the most common bait flavours and colours and got some weird results.

Phew! That's a ton of great information!

In fact, if you watch the entire DVD set and don't pick up a few good tips, I'll eat my hat.

Actually, I'll do better than that.

 Meet the stars!

Dave LaneDave Lane: Well, what can we say? Dave is probably best known for being the first angler in the UK to catch 5 carp over 50lbs - including the infamous "Black Mirror". If you've been into angling for any amount of time, you'll know about Dave's unorthodox stalking techniques - usually from up trees.

Bryan JarrettBryan Jarrett: The bait guy. Two times winner of the British Carp Anglers Championship and England team member of the National Fishing Association. Brian is known for the unusual but effective baits he concocts.

Simon ScottSimon Scott is a scientist and a fisherman. He lectures at Sparsholt College, as well as running his own fishery. Simon is the "go to guy" when it comes to the factors that encourage carp to feed.

Dr Phil HickleyDr Phil Hickley is a scientist from the Environment Agency, who is a specialist in recreational fisheries. Phil tells us how Carp find food and how they eat it.

Dr Julian PartridgeDr Julian Partridge is from the University of Bristol and specialises in animal vision. Julian explains (in simple terms) how carp see.

The CarpAnd of course, the Carp! They're the real stars of the show. You'll see stunning underwater shots of carp doing what they do.
