| In Front of the Camera
John McIntyre
Writer, presenter and underwater cameraman, John has spent
much of his working life reporting for BBC News until he gave
it all up to dive and film underwater. He is passionate about
sharks, but in "Fresh Fishing - The Carp" he has
turned his attention to different challenges and shows us
a view of the carp we have never seen before.
Dave Lane
For Dave, a fondness for climbing trees and keeping on the
move is the key to his success. It clearly works as he's the
first man to have hooked five carp over fifty pounds in the
UK, and he tells us how he did it
Bryan Jarrett
Twice winner of the BCAC Championship, and a NFA team member
for England, Bryan gives us his top tips for catching a big
one. He also turns out to be a real celebrity chef and he
shares some of his secret bait recipes.
Dr. Phil Hickley
Environment Agency scientist and specialist in recreational
fisheries tells us some extraordinary facts about how carp
find food and how they go about eating it.
Dr. Julian Partridge
University of Bristol scientist, with a special interest
in animal vision, reveals some very surprising facts about
what carp see and we look at the world from a carp's point
of view.
Chris Ponsford
A keen angler and Environment Agency water bailiff, Chris
passes on his expertise to up and coming young star, RYAN
LIPPIT.
Behind the Camera
Phill Ball - Cameraman
Phil is a natural history specialist. He photographed those
stunning close ups of the carp in our tank and the carp spawning
out in the wild.
Henry Bateman - Cameraman
Henry is a documentary film-maker and lighting cameraman,
who was brought up in the country but has worked in television
news, so he's the perfect person for chasing anglers, fish
and celebrity chefs.
Felicity Mudge - Production Manager
Felicity is a former BBC Natural History Unit financial manager,
her fabulous organisational and negotiation skills kept us
all on the straight and narrow.
Moira Mann - Director and producer
Award winning BBC and Discovery Channel film-maker, Moira
turned from sharks to carp. Entirely self-financed and free
of commercial interests she is able to reveal the science
and tell the truth. She directed, produced, made the tea,
fetched the curry and fed the fish.
The Music
The original music helped to capture all the fun we had filming
and fishing, and was composed by Will Goodchild and performed
by Stew Jackson, Dan Brown and Jody Veale on the blues harp.
Great animations by Steve Skinner helped to make things clearer
and inspired film editing from James Taggart put it all together.
Jamie Burchill and Adam Palmer paddled about in buckets doing
a brilliant sound design and mix.
Special thanks to Gina Fucci and all at Films@59 for everything
else.
